Can anybody help with a problem that I have with our cooker. It's rarely used but if we do try and use it, it quickly trips our power board. I've heard somewhere that this is a moisture problem exacerbated by lack of use? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes we had the same problem.  Try putting on a really low heat and see if you can slowly dry it out.  Or use one of those moisture collecting plastic boxes.  Ours works ok now and we always leave the door open when we leave the house empty for any period of time.

Yes it’s a common humidity problem, if it still trips even when you switch onto the lowest setting,  you’ll need to replace the element I’m afraid.

Element is shorting it out . There are two, Take the back off while the electric is off and take off the conections to one of the elements and you will find out which one is causing the fault. They do not cost much and are easy to replace.

Thanks for this Stee. When you saytake the back off, can you be a bit more expicit? My oven is built in and to get to the back would mean removing it and I'm not sure how I would do that.

Thanks,

Norm

There are 2 screws when you open the oven door on the top. Unscrew them and the oven will slide out. Then there os 4 screws holding the back on. Make sure the power is off. It is very easy.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Please do not disconnect your earth from the cooker and restore power. The reason it is tripping indicates a fault. Also, do not remove the back off your oven and disconnect elements. Unless you are a competent electrician, then it's time to contact one. Disconnection of the earth could result in all the oven housing becoming live. Take care.
